THE Missoni men’s winter 2018 collection resonances the vibrant culture of early ‘80s New York City. New perspectives formed from reflection of time passed create a merge between what has been and what is yet to come.
An electric colour palette brought soul as carrot-orange and cerulean blue were met with more subtle hues of sand and camel. Intense reds and greens worked effortlessly with darker shades of navy, greys and blacks.
Missoni does not shy away from experimenting with lavish textures and patterns, resulting in looks which appear fearlessly thrown together. Slightly flared trousers matched blazers in stripe; checks contrasted with cardigans and gilets in jacquard, and loom-knit fabric, exclusive to Missoni was paired with rich velvet trousers. Crewnecks and polo necks made from cashmere-silk were the staples of the collection.
Accessories included slender hand-knitted scarves and baggy berets with an element of a Rastafarian influence. Chunky-soled loafers in tan in a combination of leather and lizard skin completed the attire. Silhouettes remained soft but refined as layers and lengths add varying volumes and sizes in a super-relaxed manner. Comfort met with style and sophistication, distinguishing the character and individuality of the Missoni man.
