Moncler launches second drop from Moncler Genius Project with Noir Kei Ninomiya

MONCLER has released the second drop of 6 Moncler Noir Kei Ninomiya. This collaboration between Moncler and Japanese designer Kei Ninomiya forms the second part of the Moncler Genius Project, an ambitious endeavour which sees the Italian house working with different creative figures in the industry. Future collaborators will include Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli and Simone Rocha.

Kei Ninomiya, a graduate of the Antwerp Royal Arts Academy’s rigorous fashion program and a former Comme des Garçons patterner,  is known for his intricate and technically experimental designs. In 2012, he launched his own brand, Noir Kei Ninomiya. Lauded as wearable geometry, Ninomiya’s collection displays immense mastery and workmanship.

Textiles like nylon and leather are manipulated into previously unimagined forms, while classic shapes are made interesting with the innovative use of intarsia, quilting, stitching and appliqué. Ninomiya’s silhouette for this collection is fearlessly feminine, with cropped jackets and round skirts that unabashedly accentuate the female figure. And of course, the collection is rendered uncompromisingly black, putting the Noir in Noir Kei Ninomiya.

Evidently one who is always pushing boundaries, Ninomiya has remarked, “Moncler Genius is a challenge of innovation, and a progressive project in every respect. It allowed me the opportunity to develop new techniques of down. Progress always stems from the way things are made.”
