DESCRIBED as the female incarnation of Yves Saint Laurent himself, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris is set to pay homage to fashion icon Betty Catroux in celebration of her unique personality and androgynous wardrobe for its 2020 special exhibition.

Entitled “Feminine Singular”, Saint Laurent’s muse will be showcased in light of her enduring influence on the French maison’s signature style. Anthony Vaccarello, creative director at the head of Saint Laurent, will approach Catroux’s wardrobe from an aesthetic perspective, selecting pieces to represent allure, mystery and “an elusive yet desirable nature”, all of which embody the house’s aura.

The display will include Catroux’s personal collection of 180 haute couture pieces, 138 ready-to-wear pieces and an abundant array of accessories, the largest donation the Foundation Pierre Bergé — Yves Saint Laurent has ever received. Personal photos and original documents will further contribute to evidence the unique bond between Catroux and Saint Laurent.
