There was a newfound lightness to Prabal Gurung’s presentation – the bright prints, collaged cuts and wild textures of the past few seasons made way for something far more minimal, but also more interesting. Shift dresses gently skimmed the body and asymmetric calf-length skirts were split to the thigh for an effortless reveal. Emphasising diagonal lines, triangular cuts and deep V-necks, this was an fluently feminine and sensual collection, contrasted with luxe parkas and duffle coats and the Fair Isle inspired versions of the oversized turtlenecks we have grown to love.
While richly detailed, the embellishments forming angular or herringbone shapes were never overpowering. Feather-light furs thrown over the shoulders, silky leopard and transparent lace panels added a ladylike edge, while burnt and bright orange, shimmering navy and lemon sorbet yellow kept the looks decidedly fresh.
