NYFW AW17: Marc Jacobs

VINTAGE was the name of the game for Marc Jacobs’ AW17 collection. The designer traded in the faux dreads and pastel palette of SS17 for voluminous fabrics, sky scraping headwear and 70’s style platforms.

Jacobs usually keeps a surprise up his sleeve, and continued not to disappoint. The collection fell somewhere in between a glamorous thrift shop runway and a Fat Albert cartoon. Shearing coats, fur jackets and wide-legged trousers made it a captivating blast from the past.

The colour scheme stayed in neutral territory with camel and mahogany hues that continued the ‘70s vibe. Sequins made a few appearances to add sparkle to some of the mini-dresses hidden under oversized coats; but the collection stepped away from glamour and opted for a more street style inspired aesthetic.
