NYFW AW21: Maisie Wilen

THE CALL for comfort clothing has been voiced over and over again over the past year. The transition from our lives outside to the inside has brought with it a change of attire, forget feathers and sequins, it’s all about two-pieces and stretch.

Taking a softer approach this season by understanding the consumer’s needs, Maisie Wilen has created a collection incorporating both day-to-night wear that is both comfortable and adaptable.

Prints are still are the forefront for the AW21 collection, not straying too far from the foundation of what this brand is built on. Suits are seen with sport details, fitted blazer shirts are paired with matching charmeuse trousers to create a more relaxed silhouette and mid-weight suiting in twill creates an element of structure in featherweight jersey.

Taking both the much-loved silhouettes of previous collections and contrasting them with new designs, tech imagery has been implemented into parts of the collection: florals have scannable QR codes printed over them, while chromatic swirls are made from delicate lace.
