NYFW AW23: Michael Kors

MICHAEL Kors presented his autumn-winter 2023 collection at a runway show in New York City, featuring the theme of urban bohemia. The show celebrated Kors’ female inspirations, timeless icons that have shaped Kors’ art.

Kors incorporated elements of big-city glamour and bohemia from the 1970s, using slashes, slits, and lean knits to frame the body and hip-slung belts to shift the eye. The collection featured long sweeping coats, dramatic capes, leggy dresses, skirts, shorts, and sleek jumpsuits for evening attire. The colour scheme of the collection was opulent and subdued, with a spectrum that encompassed cosy shades of chocolate, chestnut, graphite, and charcoal.

The accessories complemented this aesthetic with their gentle demeanour, featuring fringed clutches, relaxed messengers, and streamlined bucket bags. Additionally, the show presented boots as a recurring element, with almost every ensemble featuring a pair of stylish boots.

The showcase unveiled a live orchestra that played a repertoire of classic melodies such as “Somebody to Love” by Jefferson Airplane and “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac, which were interspersed with recorded tracks. The runway was graced by renowned models, including Vittoria Ceretti, Irina Shayk, Amber Valletta, Liya Kebede, and Adut Akech, who sauntered down a catwalk that was lined with mirrors and birch trees, creating a dynamic and immersive soundscape.
