AS CREATIVES with notoriously jam-packed schedules, co-creating a watch with Audemars Piguet presented Ambush creative director Yoon Ahn and her husband, Japanese rapper and music producer Verbal, with a golden opportunity.
Tasked with reinterpreting the Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer’s iconic Royal Oak style, the Tokyo-based duo have tiptoed into the world of horology to much acclaim, with their newly released Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon.

Pairing the precise engineering of the original 2002 Royal Oak model with her keen eye for design (as Ambush’s founder and Dior Homme’s jewellery design director), Yoon Ahn has instilled the revised silhouette with an almost architectural, geometric quality. Crafted for the wrists of punctual women and men alike, it’s quietly bold in a sense that should appeal to fans of both Ambush and AP.
Contained within a rich red tourbillon cage, this luxurious, limited-edition Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon wristwatch is a compact 38.5 mm titanium investment. Highlights amongst its 150 pieces, include a sleek black aventurine dial, mirror-polished silver bevels and a striking red tourbillon.

The collaboration not only signals a rare departure for Ahn, away from her singular jewellery work, but also marks a momentous milestone for Verbal, a self-proclaimed fan and collector of AP watches. Now, he can add one to his collection that not only celebrates the Royal Oak’s evolution, but is a time-keeping testament to his and Ahn’s dynamic, interdisciplinary vision.
