Phoebe Philo keeps on reinventing the house of Céline and we can never know what to expect from the next collection. For SS16 the Céline woman was travelling to a warm land far away and Philo packed her everything she needed for the trip, from very feminine lace slip-ons, easily mistakable for negligees, to A-line coats with tight elastic waist for the chilly evenings.
Philo got unusually bold with make-up this season with seductively red lips and graphic eyeliner or white eyeshadow, even though perhaps not so much with the colours as majority of her collection was black and white. The monochrome palette was occasionally brighten up by accents of red in flat pointy shoes and heavy Chelsea boots or earthy notes such as green, brown or beige in a tartan pattern.
A lot of the looks experimented with silhouettes. Dresses and tops with round sleeves achieved a cocoon silhouette, while ballerina pleated midi dresses layered with a leather dress with an elastic waist again created another interesting shape.
Loose breezy trousers, thin knitted pleat dresses and light jackets would be perfect choices for a hot get-away, whereas the presence of white fur coats making the models look like polar bears was surprising. But with hair in a tight braid, long dangling earrings and big black hoops and spacious bag in hand, this girl is ready for a holiday.
