PFW SS17: Miu Miu

MIU MIU SS17 collection was the last show of the season, and we found Miuccia Prada still in a summer mood and therefore had decided to recreate a beach vibe on the runway. The floor was covered in an interweaving pattern of shiny and opaque PVC while the plywood walls were decorated by a dark orange circle resembling the sun and many lilac, white and light blue cloud shaped ornaments. It seemed a minimal Miu Miu-styled sunset.

Prints were retro and the colour palette was classic, combined in elegant contrasts. Miuccia played with textures and fun layering this season to create silhouettes that enhanced the female figure by emphasising the waist. The collection presented patent leather coats tighten by belts, ‘70s inspired midi patterned dresses, retro high waisted bathing costumes with bralettes and towel looking stoles. Floral details were ever-present both for patterns and as appliqué on garments, handbags, but especially on rubber swimming hats.

Models were carrying structural handbags, basket bags or clutch bags all in a range of different colours and sizes in order to suit all needs. These were matched to platform sandals and flower decorated flip-flops in vibrant shades.

Miu Miu SS17 felt like an old school Hollywood pool party, hosted by the wonderful Miuccia Prada, where women are wearing pretty, fun and elegant outfits.
