AS FACIALS are getting more technically advanced, it is easy to feel slightly out of depth. The standard amalgamation of creams, massaging and squeezing is becoming less popular and the hero treatments of Hollywood are finding their way to high streets.
So, when looking at the list of treatments at White City’s Thérapie Clinic it felt like the right time to try something different.
For those who don’t know what Potenza™ is, it’s the newest technology in advanced micro-needling treatments. Centred around a dual action approach to rejuvenate the skin, the tiny needles penetrate the epidermal layers to create micro-channels in the skin triggering a healing process to begin.
In addition to this, radiofrequency produces an increase in blood flow to the skin, helping stimulate more collagen to be produced and in turn making your skin tighter.

The benefits of a treatment like this are enormous. Not only does it tighten your skin and make it firmer, it improves the texture, reduces fine lines and scarring, and treats sun damage – and its compatible with all skin types.
While its cousin treatments like Morpheus8, have made their rounds and solidified their position in the beauty industry, stars like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Anniston transitioned to Potenza on the basis of being the newer, more innovative micro-needling.

Speaking to experts at Thérapie about why this is the now favoured treatment, they explained: “Potenza has unique features that set it apart from other radiofrequency microneedling treatments. One key feature is its customisable depth and energy levels, allowing for a more tailored approach to addressing individual skin concerns. The precision it offers can result in more effective and targeted treatments and results.
Additionally, Potenza’s technology is designed to minimise discomfort during the procedure as well as downtime, making it a more tolerable experience for patients. Its versatility and ability to treat various skin concerns, such as wrinkles, fine lines, loss of elasticity and acne scars contribute to its reputation as as the leading RF microneedling treatment.”
Lasting 75 minutes, the beginning of my session was an explanation about what was going to happen and the side effects of this treatment. Naturally, when small needles go into your face, you are warned about redness, how to look after your sensitive face and what to avoid during that time. Then, I had numbing cream put all over my face for exactly 30 minutes – definitely an unusual sensation.
Once the timer went off, I had two rounds of micro-needling across my face. There were points when you could feel the small pricks but the majority of the time I couldn’t feel anything at all – again, it’s weird to wrap your head around knowing something is happening and not feeling it. It didn’t last very long, and that side of the process must have been no longer than half an hour.
The aftermath was a light redness as if I had been in the sun for a little too long, and slightly tight skin that I could feel throughout the day and a little for the day after – but nothing worrying or uncomfortable. After a week, my one session had already faded some of the scarring on my face and helped my complexion – I was even glowing despite the drastic drop in winter temperature.
Though the head-turning results don’t happen after one session or even immediately, I already had evident results and I understood why this treatment had become a firm favourite from the elite.
