PUMA have worked alongside Selena Gomez to create a platform training shoe that embodies the female force, aptly dubbed Defy. The chunky trainer aims to encourage “women to be a force to be reckoned with” and Selena is a proud ambassador of Defy and the message attached to it.

The Defy silhouette has been formed with three main benefits in mind – comfort, support and fit. Puma ensures these are provided by combining a profoam sole (Puma’s energy return foam) with a lightweight knitted upper.

Selena Gomez speaks of the concept in saying “I remind myself daily about the importance of defying outside noise and being true to myself … to defy is to be brave.” As the muse of the shoe, Selena is keen to emphasise that women should continue “pushing the envelope and not obeying any expectations”, something Puma hopes that Defy will encourage.
