ARRIVING promptly for the cold weather shift, Sunspel has unveiled a collaboration with British supermodel Edie Campbell. Taking inspiration from her own British roots and aligning them with Sunspel’s aesthetic, the model now-turned creative created a capsule of autumn essentials for women.

“I’ve always been slightly envious of the way traditional menswear provides men with something of a uniform. I like the idea of not having to over think what I’m wearing”, explains Campbell, describing her approach to this collection. Taking the notion of creating staple pieces that have an unwavering place in the cycle of trends and adapting them to her taste, she managed to create a clothes that will stand the test of time.

“I started by looking at some really stylish men in suits – Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, even Danny DeVito as Harry Wormwood in Matilda. He wears the best suits, so I was keen to bring some of his energy to the prints and colour”. Keeping a relatively muted palette, sticking to houndstooth print, browns, black and greys, the only pops of colour are apple and acid lime, giving a brighter, yet still neutral tone to the collection – very English indeed!

Summarising her collection for Sunspel, Campbell says “It’s about great clothes that will last and you’ll feel good putting them on every day”. With the ease of capsule being as simple as chucking a shirt and suit on without a second thought, it makes you realise that maybe there really doesn’t need to be much faff standing in front of your wardrobe every morning.
