AUSTRIAN brand, Swarovski is hosting their first-ever exhibition titled Masters of Light which will delve into the brand’s heritage, taking its audience on a historic journey exploring its evolution since its founding back in 1895.
The spectacle which has been curated by fashion journalist, author, critic, and curator — Alexander Fury, will travel globally with their first stop being Shanghai’s Museum of Contemporary Art.

The exhibition will display some of the brand’s biggest milestones with demonstrations of crystal-adorned couture pieces from renowned fashion houses such as Christian Dior, Gucci and Guo Pei.
Masters of Light stands as an odyssey mapping out the fabrication of the pioneering European luxury brand while displaying the suavity and artistry it took in collaborating amongst some of the most important names fashion and the entertainment industry have to offer.
Unveiled will be an estimated 60 garments which have been created over the last 128 years, embellished with Swarovski crystals and designed by some of the greatest fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen, Armani Privé and Balenciaga to name a few.
Amongst it all, the audience will also have the opportunity to see some of the extraordinary outfits worn by celebrated pop icons such as Christina Aguilera and Marilyn Monroe.

The exhibition will allow for an exciting chance to view publically unreleased stage costumes and red-carpet outfits sourced from the Swarovski Heritage Collection alongside charming jewellery pieces and figurines. There will also be a display of crystals which will include the most sizable crystal chaton to have ever been made.
The experience will immerse its audience into an adventure starting from 19th century Vienna to 21st century Shanghai.
Through the use of panoramic scenography which will occupy seven chambers titled the Chambers of Wonder — Time Chamber, Masters of Light, Future History, Jewelry Box, Pop Icons, Mathemagical and Diamonds of the Future — Swarovski’s story will come to life.

To ensure an enchanting experience and due to the brand’s associations with contemporary art, Beijing artist Tian Xiaolei has been invited to create an installation in response to the themes and iconography of Swarovski.
In the Diamonds of the Future chamber, the brand will unveil their latest fine jewellery collection tilted Galaxy. The collection which is assembled using Swarovski Created Diamonds and designed by Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert, will be on display at Masters of Light for the public to view for the first time.
Swarovski who is known for their faultless craftsmanship and delightful products, will be exhibiting Masters of Light in Shanghai which opened on the 20th of September 2023 and will be running until the 9th of October 2023.
