The Britannic Explorer: England and Wales’ first luxury sleeper train embarks upon its maiden voyage

MARKING the start of a new chapter for British luxury travel, The Britannic Explorer A Belmond train – is set to embark upon its inaugural journey on 21 July 2025. Designed with comfort in mind, the train’s interiors have been carefully crafted by London-based studio Albion Nord, in collaboration with Luke Edward Hall, Mel Campion, and Olly Fathers. The carriages have been adorned with bold fabrics, layered textures, and delicate antiques, intertwining contemporary design principles with classic sophistication.

Speaking on the design, Camilla Clarke, Creative Director at Albion Nord, adds: “Designing the Britannic Explorer has been an extraordinary opportunity to tell a new story of British luxury – one rooted in craft, landscape, and character. We wanted the interiors to feel refined yet bold, timeless yet unexpected – much like Britain itself. Every element, from the palette and materials to the artwork and antiques, was chosen to evoke a sense of place and personality.”

Departing from London Victoria Station, guests can explore some of the nation’s most picturesque regions, including Cornwall, the Lake District, and Wales. They can also experience a range of off-board activities specially curated to showcase the most exciting activities in these areas. Think: coast sailing and yoga sessions in Cornwall, wild swimming and rowing in the Lake District, and valley hikes and art classes in the heart of Wales.

Additionally, guests are invited to extend their stay with a pre- or post-journey visit at The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, London, just 20 minutes from London Victoria. Meanwhile, those opting for the Lake District itinerary can enjoy a gala dinner at the Michelin two-starred manor house hotel and restaurant by Chef Patron Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel, Oxfordshire.
