Vivienne Westwood designs an exclusive capsule for LuisaViaRoma

CONTINUING the legacy of his wife, Andreas Kronthaler launches a new Vivienne Westwood capsule collection designed exclusively for LuisaViaRoma. Having initially debuted the collection in June at the Runway Icons show, the collection is now available to buy in Vivienne Westwood Boutiques and online.

The Runway Icons show, hosted by Vogue and LuisaViaRoma, was held at the beautiful Piazzale Michelangelo – a stunning location East of the centre of Florence. The show celebrated the evolution of fashion and style throughout the decades.

Stella Maxwell paraded down the runway in the new capsule collection which compromises a corset, a kilt, platform heels and a mini bag. The Sunday corset (£1,155)– influenced by the sweetheart neckline of the Gigi corset – is made from archival fabrics from the autumn-winter 2020 collection. Made in the image of the iconic 90s Sunday dress, the corset is of a fluid, soft silhouette featuring a heart-shaped neckline.

Similarly, the Meghan kilt (£635) is made of materials from the Vivienne Westwood archive. The kilt is based on a past design from the brand’s spring-summer 2022 collection and features a decorative belt which ensures adaptability and freedom concerning styling choices.

The ubiquitous Circus tartan encompasses a colour palette inspired by the Commedia Dell’Arte – an Italian theatrical form which was particularly popular from the 16th to the 18th century.

The same Circus tartan is used in the capsule collection’s Elevated Ghillie shoes. Drawing inspiration from the Super Elevated Ghillie shoes (£820), which were first exhibited during the autumn-winter 1993 Anglomania runway, the platforms are laced with a bold, lilac ribbon to further elevate the shoe’s appearance.

The final piece of the collection is the Mini Yasmine bag (£380)– prompted by the original Yasmine which debuted during the spring-summer 1989 Civilizade collection. The orb logo motif is constructed using the same lilac found on the Elevated Ghillie shoe’s ribbon and the Circus tartan. The bag is a perfect accessory to finish off the collection thanks to its flawless construction and detailing.

Kronthaler has designed a capsule collection which draws upon some of Vivienne Westwood’s most notable codes. It acts as a brilliant showcase of the brand’s evolution throughout the years and is now available online to buy at www.luisaviaroma.com and www.viviennewestwood.com.
