Francesca Amfitheatrof unveiled her latest book: Fantastical Jewels

LOUIS VUITTON’S Artistic Director of Jewellery and Watches just launched a book called Fantastical Jewels by Francesca Amfitheatrof.

Amfitheatrof was the first to be granted the title she possesses at Louis Vuitton and has brought the brand a new approach to the art of jewellery design through the visionary collections she has created for the Maison.

With her practice situated in the fashion capital of Paris, she approaches her design process by indicating a theme to each collection while utilising the oldest materials our planet has to offer, such as diamonds, stones and gold.

Francesca Amfitheatrof: Fantastical Jewels

The book was dreamt up in collaboration with esteemed art director Fabien Baron and intended on representing Francesca’s distinctive artistic nature, which was encouraged through its luxurious exterior of hardback covers, ribbon ties and vellum inserts.

Additional authors are also demonstrated throughout the publication such as Stefania Amfitheatrof, a luxury and branding specialist and actress Cate Blanchett, who was recently awarded a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in Tár.

Francesca Amfitheatrof: Fantastical Jewels

Fantastical Jewels delves into four of the Artistic Director’s remarkable jewellery collections and guides its reader through the alchemical journey of jewellery making, from the inspiration to the raw materials to the finished jewel.

The book is written in a journal-like style and portrays sketches, gouaches, collages, and personal photographs, giving the reader visual insight into the collections.

Alongside this, it showcases Amfitheatrof’s capabilities in bringing a modern touch to a long-established craft and further reveals her journey of creativity and inventiveness through the distinguishing spirit of Louis Vuitton.
