Borsalino nods to modernity and heritage in its AW24 campaign

BORSALINO has a rich heritage when it comes to hats, after all, having been established in 1857 by Giuseppe Borsalino, it’s the oldest Italian manufacturer of luxury hats.

What went from a small atelier specialising in the production of felt hats has grown, with multiple boutiques and luxury stockists worldwide; there’s even a namesake museum that opened last year, situated in the historic building that housed the hat-making manufacture from 1888 to 1984 – marking the memory and preserving the art of Italian craftsmanship.

Now, through the lens of photographer Pavel Kharatian and under the art direction of Agata Belcen, they seek to capture the dynamism of modern, metropolitan life and the hats we need along the way in a campaign that “nods to the brand’s heritage while reaching out to future generations.”

Presented via a series of portraits, the star of the show is the headwear and here, the simple accessory becomes the anchor of style, balancing practicality and personality. The collection includes classic pieces in brushed, unlined felt, cue the cloche and the golf cap, plus suede and faux fur beanies and flat caps.

These sit alongside more daring options such as the thermoformed models with a structured knit, plus luxurious hiker and duckbill styles in Loro Piana cashmere, which as the brand says, highlights the fun and frenzy of modern-day life.
