THIS WINTER, Rocco Forte Hotels celebrated the opening of its tenth Italian property with the debut of The Carlton in Milan. Designed by architects Philip Vergeylen and Paolo Moschino, the hotel has undergone a €60-million renovation under the creative direction of Olga Polizzi, the group’s Deputy Chair and Director of Design.
The property features 71 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a bar, and a dedicated spa, blending contemporary comfort with traditional sophistication. The décor embraces a bold palette enriched with refined Art Deco details, creating a modern yet characterful atmosphere throughout.

At the heart of the hotel’s offering is its trio of gastronomic destinations, each rooted in Fulvio Pierangelini’s culinary ethos. Spiga highlights the power of fresh, seasonal ingredients, while Café Floretta offers an all-day menu in a botanical-inspired setting. Finally, The Carlton Bar serves signature cocktails crafted by mixologist Salvatore Calabrese.
Meanwhile, the hotel’s 280-square-metre wellness destination, the Irene Forte Spa, features treatment rooms, a nail salon, a sauna, a steam room, sensory showers, and sound beds.

Speaking on the opening, Sir Rocco Forte, CEO and Chairman of the company he co-founded with his sister Olga Polizzi, said: “It is wonderful to be opening a hotel in the heart of Milan. The city has become one of the most vibrant centres in Europe and economically one of the fastest growing. It is an honour to be a part of this. The Carlton is a chic new watering hole for the conoscenti and Milan’s most sophisticated clientele.”
