The undeniable charm of the East met contemporary, hyper-femininity at Elisabetta Franchi’s AW15 show in Milan. An absolute, bold collection inspired by the Rising Sun and resting upon rigorous contrasts.
The apparent geisha-like look embodied in transparent oriental kimonos, in flower-laden handmade embroideries on wide-sleeved dresses and blouses was juxtaposed with the sophisticated looks featuring high-waisted trousers, knee-length skirts, over jackets and tuxedos.
Garments adorned in suggestive graphics and colors, with pervasive ink blue hues followed by some touches of raspberry red, black, dusty-pink, toffee and ivory. Colour-changing fabrics such as matelassé jacquard, animal prints on scale-pattern, light-reflecting satins like super elastic or light and flowing duchesse and Japan-style nappa alternate on materials never used before by the brand – such as technical double fabric to offer a pleasant plurality.
Little dresses with fluttery fringes, flared, tulip, amphora-shaped and doll-style skirts in unexpected lengths sashayed down the catwalk paired with classic black and fiery-red stiletto heels but also ankle boots with geometric heels and pocket size bags.
The evening dresses in black shades embellished with glittery golden embroidery completed the puzzle of the ultimate, plenary, and an unmistakable style wardrobe of the fashionable woman for this autumn.
