LFW AW17: J. JS Lee

THE Seoul-born Jackie JS Lee aka J. JS Lee was inspired for this season by children’s dressing up games –  playing with the grown-up wardrobes of their parents and exploring their identities through these games – which gave way to oversized proportions in her AW17 collection.

Hence both masculine and feminine tailoring, which has now become J. JS Lee’s signature, forms the majority of the collection, such as oversized melton wool check and mohair coats with dropped shoulders belted around the chest or the hips, wide-leg trousers and pencil skirts held by a kind of suspender belts and ladylike structured or voluminous wool dresses with tied wide belts and coats fastened by drawstrings above the knees giving a mermaid-like effect. An innovative feature that Lee introduced this season were detachable elongated wrist cuffs attached to sleeves of jackets, white shirts and jumpsuits.

Edges of skirts and dresses were pinned on the sides and continuing on the theme of children’s dress up as if the garments were too big for the models. Also oversized relaxed knitwear was part of the show paired with a big bundle of scarf tied around the neck.

The punchy fiery orange eyeshadows brightened up and contrasted the muted colour palette of camel, charcoal, white, black and ice cream pastels like pistachio and rose of the collection.
