NYFW SS20: Mansur Gavriel

AGAINST a backdrop of bubblegum pink walls, design team duo Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel presented their FW19 collection yesterday inside their SoHo store. Opting for a presentation rather than a show this fashion week, Mansur Gavriel created an interactive space for admirers of the New York based brand. A fruit installation in the middle of the space recalled the label’s roots – to keep production costs low when they first started the brand back in 2012, the designers would often use fruit as props alongside product imagery.

The fruit was not merely aesthetic either, guests sipped watermelon and orange juice as they perused the new collection. In the midst of fashion week’s spring collections upon barren runways, the presentation in the store created a cozy space for guests to shop for their winter wardrobes. Chunky cloud and sun printed knits stood out alongside cozy wool checked and shearling coats.

Pops of colour from dark green to pastel pink came in the form of the label’s signature accessories, bucket bags and clutches came in an array of colours and shapes, creating a monochromatic finish to the collection.
