Argentinian bartender Tato returns to The Emory Rooftop Bar

RENATO ‘Tato’ Giovannoni, the renowned Argentinian bartender and founder of the celebrated Florería Atlántico bar in Buenos Aires, has returned to London this month with a taste of his home, in cocktail form, of course.

Tato, who recently won the Industry Icon Award at the World’s 50 Best Bars, is once again curating the cocktail offerings at The Emory Rooftop Bar in Belgravia following the success of his two-month pop-up at the venue last year. Back with a bang, the new cocktail menu will change seasonally, bringing a taste of his three-decade-long journey in mixology to the capital.

The Emory Rooftop Bar, with its 360-degree views of the city skyline, is now serving up a specially curated selection of Tato’s signature drinks, spanning from his first cocktail creation in 1998 to his most recent innovation, Navigation, which is a take on the classic Aviation recipe and served exclusively at The Emory.

The menu, titled ‘El Mar de Tato’, draws inspiration from Tato’s childhood on the coast of Buenos Aires and his travels with tipples including San Lucas, a reimagined mojito from ’98, created during his early days at Grand Bar Danzón, regarded as the birthplace of the Argentine cocktail scene.

Returning by popular demand are several of his signature cocktails from last year’s pop-up, too, including the Negroni Balestrini, which Tato created ten years ago as a tribute to his grandfather Lelo.

Made with Tato’s own gin brand, Principe de los Apostoles, the Negroni Balestrini honours the first high-end gin distilled in Argentina. Also making an appearance is the viral Garua Martini, which famously uses distilled local London rainwater.
