Dior reveals a modern twist on a classic with the 62-22 pumps

INTRODUCING the new Dior 62-22 pumps from the AW22 ready-to-wear collection, a reinvention by Maria Grazia Chiuri of the original style from Roger Vivier and Christian Dior.

Inspired by the first creation, back in 1962, the name brings to life all the years the shoes have been adored by Dior fanatics. To celebrate this 60-year ride, the latest design presents elaborate embroidery in combination with technical elements from the D-Air lab’s research. Creating a seamless link between the past and future, and a new emblem to a timeless silhouette.

Mimosa flowers are meticulously placed upon the shoes, one by one, to create the illusion that they are blooming from a stem that extends to the heel. Pearls with a coral motif reach a fringe on the toe, erupting with light, whilst striking turquoise stones blossom on a transparent fishnet base. The design reveals a poetic movement from Dior, whilst also boasting the virtuoso skills of the Dior ateliers.

These whimsical ornaments are met with a contemporary, high-tech strap that effortlessly fits around the ankle. Consisting of ultralight neoprene, this fastening system, with its fluorescent yellow stitching, is inspired by the world of motorcycling and makes room to place the Dior 62-22 shoes on the timeline of combining heritage and innovation.
