TAKING inspiration from the free, wild Californian spirit, Fendi’s Pre-Fall 2020 Collection, named California Sky, by Silvia Venturini Fendi incorporates a collaboration with LA’s own Joshua Vides. The success of the relationship between the Italian fashion house and the artist following London’s Harrods Fendi Cafe and the Peekaboo Bar, sees the pair work on a larger scale.

Joshua Vides, a Guatemalan-American visual artist known for his black-and-white marker signature visuals, takes to the women’s, men’s and children’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections with his modern, cool cartoon aesthetic.
Working with his signature monochrome colours and markers added touches of blue and wisteria purple to create an elegant yet sharp effect on the seams and sides of the classic Fendi resort styles. Taking it a step further, the artist reworked the Fendi stamps and their iconic FF logo, putting a graphic twist on the classics.

The womenswear this season takes a stronger attitude that matches the vibe that Joshua Vides has added to this collection. Focusing on lightweight materials and functionality, windbreakers, cycling shorts, compact knitwear and denim is mixed among fur coats, cardigans and blousons to cater for both the Fendi girl and woman. For those searching for the heat rather than the cold, kaftans and shirt-dresses are added to sustain a dynamic nature to the Pre-Fall 2020 collection.
Fendi quintessential pieces like the Peekaboo and Baguette bags are given an artistic edge by Vides and reworked with softer leather padding and the new Roma shopper and Colibri slingbacks and FF Fluid sock trainers are coming into the Pre-Fall in polished leather.

The menswear Pre-Fall line echoes the same graphic extravagance of the womenswear with FF logo patterns on cotton jackets, satin blousons and leather outerwear matched with cool denim. Accessories including the Baguette for men, backpacks and fanny packs are also featured in this collection with a more summery footwear take that has sneakers, sandals and slides.

Not forgetting the kids side of the collection, the Joshua Vides’ graphics are immersed in windbreakers, cotton shirts, shorts and dresses with slip-on sneakers, sandals and backpacks to ensure that even your children’s accessories are on trend.
