LC:M Maharishi SS15

As Maharishi bag themselves a spot on this season’s LC:M schedule, Glass is excited to see what this famous ‘90s brand has designed here in the year 2014!

Inspiration for the show sees Maharishi travel to the Middle East, retracing Italian artist Alighiero Boetti’s footsteps and discovering the Viet-Afghan Coalition. This means the aesthetic is earthy and conjures thought of travel and worldliness. The brand revisits all of the aspects that made it the name that it is today. (See bucket hats, hand embroidery, camouflage etc) but also utilises a DIY aspect which sees vintage Italian military shelter tents converted into bags. Camouflage is embroidered beautifully and the expected palette of khakis whites and tans is wonderfully modern and relevant.

Glass forgets the brand image previously and akin to seeing something for the first time falls a little bit in love with the wearability of the collection. Maharishi have taken all its best elements and addressed all the men’s wardrobe classics wonderfully. We would like to see much more from this brand we think!
