Le Labo announces Hong Kong-inspired fragrance – Bigarade 18

DO YOU recall scents from your early childhood? If not, take a moment to pause and let these memories resurface from the back of your mind. Can you sense the earthiness that permeated the air as you ran barefoot in the mud? Or the dewy freshness of a leafy forest floor as you sheltered beneath tall trees as it rained? While your memory bank of smells are likely unique to your own upbringing, it’s the engaging concept of converging past and present that is fundamental in understanding Le Labo’s latest City Exclusive fragrance, Bigarade 18.

Bigarade 18, Le Labo

Eddie Roschi, co-founder of Le Labo, spent time living in Hong Kong as a child. Careering across the hallways of the Repulse Bay hotel, Roschi couldn’t help but inhale the smell of fragrant lilies and powerful citrus trees. Roschi saw the city as a wide-eyed youth. In his eyes, it was a place of discovery and adventure, a concrete jungle perfect for exploration. Now as co-founder of Le Labo, Roschi seeks to bring forth these memories as the formulaic building blocks for Bigarade 18. Combining notes of orange flower, cedar atlas, styrax resins, tonka and musks, the new fragrance stays true to Roschi’s personal experiences in Hong Kong.

“In developing Bigarade 18 for Hong Kong I wanted to mix the old classicism of “old school” ingredients, whilst making a scent that stayed contemporary and unforgettable, a tribute to my exposure and memories of Hong Kong, a mix of old and new,” Roschi said.
