L’Escargot provides an exclusive afternoon tea experience

SINCE being established in 1896, L’Escargot has remained one of London’s most prestigious dining venues. Jumping forward to now, the restaurant has unveiled the arrival of an indulgent afternoon tea experience.

M. Georges Gaudin – founder of L’Escargot – initially named his infamous restaurant Le Bienvenue, which was located at the bottom of Greek Street. The restaurant gained more and more attention and, as a result, moved to a larger premise at 48 Greek Street. Known and well-adored for his traditional French cuisine, Gaudin renamed his restaurant after his signature snail dish.

Despite the fact that snails are not on the new afternoon tea menu, guests will still be enthralled by the various different small bites on offer. All guests will be undeniably spoilt for choice.

Upon arrival, a selection of finger sandwiches will be offered to visitors of the restaurant. A wide array of culinary combinations will be on offer including Wiltshire ham with Dijon mustard, Cucumber with cream cheese and chives, Scottish smoked salmon and Burford Brown egg mayonnaise.

Additionally, for those who favour something more sweet, home-baked scones with Cornish clotted cream and English strawberry jam will be available. Furthermore, other sugary treats such as raspberry & almond frangipane and chocolate éclair make an appearance on the unique menu. Paying homage to M. Georges Gaudin and the restaurant’s heritage, snail-shaped meringues have been expertly crafted to add further intrigue.

Under Head Chef James Tyrell’s supervision, the afternoon tea will certainly be an immediate attraction. Having previously trained at Langan’s Brassier, the head chef adores French cuisine and aims to provide exclusive gastronomic delights.

The tea will cost £48 per person and is now available to book at www.lescargot.co.uk.
