LFW AW15: Belstaff

Belstaff’s latest collection titled The Pursuit of Freedom focuses on the connection between strong female characters and the natural world.  A sophisticated take on nomadic living, women are encouraged to seek adventure and to explore the wilderness. In an ode to heroines, the collection took inspiration from Amelia Earhart, and built the presentation space around the theme of flight. Vintage Parachute silks hung from the walls of the mansion, delicately draping around the models.

The range incorporates materials needed for survival; waterproof fabrics such as nylon and wax cotton were contrasted against fur and shearling to create a natural finish. Using neutral tones of greys and browns, the collection opted for a contemporary take on camouflage, focusing on the modern woman’s attire.

Mixing both feminine and masculine qualities, Belstaff displayed a subtle androgynous theme with a combination of oversized jackets, juxtaposed against black dresses. The models supported slicked back hair and minimal makeup, emphasising the all natural lifestyle.

Belstaff have chosen to acknowledge female heroines for their AW15 presentation; with inspiration from iconic figures they have produced a collection that encapsulates both the essence of the brand and modern femininity.
