Judy Wu, one of Glass’ favourite recent discoveries, made a stellar debut at Fashion Scout yesterday and certainly brightened up our day with her lively creations. The designer’s LFW schedule graduation showed much more increasing tact than we’ve ever seen from the young talent, basing AW15 sensibly upon Shanghai roots for a more sentimental starter.
Recalling her elders wise words in childhood reminiscence, “you cannot go to a ball without a nicely fitted Qipao”, Wu gave oriental grace a stylish mix up with clean geometric cuts. Patterns and prints popped in the lush exoticised colour plays Judy has made her trademark masterfully; look no further for a more warming and feel-good shade of fuchsia. Wear-ability was an interesting aspect of what was primarily an AW collection but edged with a yearning for more exciting people and places because these are the delightful dresses that’ll take you there.
When a handful of gowns capped off the collection with sloped structural sleeves and long oval silhouettes, it was a design triumph and instantly brought together a compelling parade of pieces that are well on their way to establishing Wu more firmly within London’s corybantic fashion scene.
