LFW AW24: SRVC

SRVC’s autumn-winter 2024 runway show took place over the weekend during London Fashion Week and presented a collection by creative director Ricky Wesley Harriott, who delved into the city of London and the women he holds dearest for his latest season.

The show occurred across three London TFL busses where the models walked inside and up the stairs of each vehicle as if they were on their daily commute to work.

The AW24 collection is titled Human Resources and succeeds the brand’s previous season of virtual escape while championing SRVC’s ethereal sensibilities and displaying women’s corporate attire transformed into provocative silhouettes as a testing of patriarchal norms.

The atmosphere of TFL busses juxtaposes the garment’s silhouettes, celebrating London life. The looks saw two-piece sets made from wool accompanied by jackets with cinched-in waists, bold shoulders and oddly sewn buttons.

As one analyses the cuffs on sleeves, they imitate shoulder outlines, and trouser hems appear as shirt collars, creating unexpected silhouettes. Intrigue is invoked by an inverted woollen coat with the lapel embellishing the hem and a resourceful design at the back to slip the wearer’s hair into, capturing the manic mornings of city living.

As workwear continues to take a subversive form, the collection sees adaptable knitwear and co-ords of cashwool tops and skirts, where tops possess high necklines that can transform into face coverings.

Skirts see crew neck collar accents on the hem and adaptable buckles to modify its length. Knitted denim materialises backless mini dresses with suggestive thigh slits, and poplin fabricates button-up dresses and unique shirts displaying statement sleeves and cut-out designs across the chest.

The SRVC AW24 runway show imitated the genuine experience of women living in and navigating the metropolis, as Ricky Wesley Harriott advocates for the appreciation of the present day alongside encouraging the contemplation of our future world.
