A NEW Gucci boutique has opened in the heart of Soho, New York this week. By renovating the 155-year-old former pencil factory building in the heart of Manhattan’s creative community, the brand once again manifested its experimental spirit and eclectic nature.

Playlist by the dance music pioneer John “Jellybean” Benitez, interactive LED displays and a 3D screening room are only some of the innovative features in this concept store showcasing the artistic heritage of the SoHo district. The opening night featured a documentary by LA-based artist Wu Tsang, exploring the house music scene in New York.

Gucci Wooster is truly unique at connecting with the spirit of local community. The brand collaborated with Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine to reprint the iconic December 1985 Music Issue featuring Madonna on the cover, at the same time, including stories of their downtown neighbours such as Indochine, The Odeon or The Drawing Centre.

The “Guccified” interior with turmeric red velvet chairs and decorative flooring properly preserved the industrial legacy of the building, while the true innovation lies in the customer service model of “Gucci Connectors”, who are the ambassadors and storytellers for customers to experience truly personalised shopping.
Last but not least, Gucci Wooster will be the first store to display the new Gucci-Dapper Dan collection two months prior to other locations.
