A new face on the modelling scene, 18-year-old Solvenian model Iris Somen, hails from the town of Ptuj and is represented in the UK by Profile. Iris was scouted at a concert in her home country.
How did you become a model?
I was scouted at a concert, when I was on my summer vacation. I was on the right place at the right time 🙂
Who is your favourite designer?
Definitely Valentino. The elegance and grace of the models in his garments amazes me everytime I see his creations.
What do you wear on your days off?
Anything that’s comfortable, mostly baggy tracksuits for when I am home. Casual jeans, a simple T-shirt and ballerinas combined with some cute accessories would be my choice for when I am meeting with my friends.
What book, movie or song means the most to you?
There’s one song that makes me cry every time I hear it: A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. It’s hopelessly romantic I know, but it reminds me of some beautiful memories I shared with some special people.
Who are your heroes in life?
My family and friends to whom I look up to and share the joyful moments with. They are always standing by my side and making me into a better person.
What is your present state of mind?
I am just really happy right now, enjoying the moment and going with the flow. It brings you inner peace I think.
What is your idea of happiness?
Doing what I love with the people that mean the most to me by my side.
How would you like to be perceived by others?
As a confident, kind, ambitious, approachable and optimistic person .
If you were not a model, what would you be?
If I could be anything I wanted, I would choose doing sport professionally, I admire sportsmen who have 100 per cent focus and devotion in order to make the best of themselves.
What advice do you have for other models?
Love and respect yourself. That means nourishing your mind, body and soul. It’s an amazing experience to be able to do modelling and learn, travel, discover, explore at the same time so make the most of it. And most importantly, enjoy every single moment 😉
