Richard Mille expands RM 75-01 Flying Tourbillon Sapphire collection

RICHARD Mille is back with new, ultra-exclusive models, as it’s dropped three RM 75-01 Flying Tourbillon Sapphire styles.

Two of the watches, produced in editions of 10, combine clear and coloured sapphire crystal, while the third iteration is made entirely from clear sapphire, and is limited to only 15 pieces; each case involving over 1,000 hours of work, including 40 days of continuous grinding.

Each model showcases a skeletonised movement housed in a tripartite sapphire case, offering transparency. As always with RM, there’s plenty of architectural inspiration, and this time, the brand draws influence from Gothic design.

Here, the movement and casing feature arcs and domed flanges, plus micro-blasted red gold and satin-polished titanium frame the calibre, which is souped up with SuperLuminova for low-light visibility.

Cécile Guenat, Richard Mille ladies’ director says of the trio, “We approached each element as a piece of architectural art. The harmony of depths and the meticulous selection of materials create a dynamic and captivating view of the movement.”

A titanium baseplate treated in 5N gold PVD holds the flying tourbillon and barrel to create a floating effect, and the rhodium-plated wheels and micro-blasted finishes highlight the intricate craftsmanship and technical detailing, essential hallmarks of Richard Mille’s design.
