Saul Nash announced as the 2022 International Woolmark Prize Winner


LONDON-based designer and choreographer Saul Nash has been announced as the winner of the 2022 International Woolmark Prize.

At an event held in London, Nash won AU$200,000 (around £113,500) as well as ongoing support from the industry as well as Woolmark Prize retail partners.

Saul Nash was selected as the winner by an expert jury including Ben Gorham, Carine Roitfeld, Edward Enninful OBE, Ibrahim Kamara as well as Marc Newson CBE, Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, Naomi Campbell, Pieter Mulier, Riccardo Tisci, Shaway Yeh, Sinéad Burke and Tim Blanks.

The 2022 International Woolmark Prize Judges

The designer was praised for his modern use of Merino wool, using the benefits the material to design activewear. For his collection Nash focused on minimising waste while emphasising movement and performance. This modern interpretation of knitwear challenges preconceived notions about what sportswear is supposed to look and feel like.
