Known for his luxurious, minimalist approach Christophe Lemaire showed voluminous layered silhouettes in warm hues of khaki, sand, amber, icy mint and crisp white in Paris yesterday, taking inspiration from colonial times in South-East Asia – the love-worn show space complete with potted palms, grey lined drapery. A printed tea dress in muted blue, red, green and yellow further underlined this vibe, while loose silk pyjamas and softly tailored, oversized separates kept the collection very casual. Tunic dresses were paired wide-leg trousers and topped off with collarless coats or more streamlined blazers, midi and full plated mini skirts received the same layering treatment while humble long white dresses promised summer heat and carefreeness.
Towards the end of the show the paler hues made way for raw denim co-ordinates and black utility-inspired looks – the military style pockets and buckle detailing accompanied by sharp suiting and a chalk line grid print forming into a draped halter-neck dress and top. An interesting collection from the Paris designer, the separates sure to be a hit on the shop floor.
