Hermès SS14 Collection at Paris Fashion Week

The Hermès Spring show at Paris Fashion Week was refreshingly casual — it was adeptly and holistically adherent to the concept of springtime. The whole collection seemed blithe, fresh, and brazenly wearable.

There was a ubiquitous pattern of mini-dots that spewed their way uniformly across many of the looks like the splash of a harmless seaside foam. The collection included a couple of tie-belt trenches, contrasting with the mostly waist-hitting summer coats. There were printed scarves, light-weight button up sweaters, Henley-sleeved button details on shoulders, casual trousers, knee-length shorts, and breezy tops.

There was definitely a masculine humility to the collection. It all felt very mature, very confident, and very congruous. Véronique Nichanian’s ever-impressive modesty as she showed face on the post-show catwalk led us to adore the collection that much more.
