Dior began the AW15 show by showcasing a variety of smart tuxedos; focusing on typical masculine design the collection presented the development of the suit.
The youthful edge of preppy badges with floral design broke the traditional mould and was later developed as a focal point. Dior’s combination of classic meets casual included caps featuring floral pins, which contrasted against bow ties and smart suits. The yellow Pop Art print was explored in depth towards the finale, with Dior showcasing an almost abstract version in jacket form.
Apart from the occasional pop of colour the collection was mostly neutral, centring around a base of monochrome. Subtle patterns were etched into suits, featuring a dogtooth design that was brought to life with yellow undertones. A surprising element was the use of leather and denim as staple fabrics, adding a playful touch to a conventional collection.
Dior have encapsulated traditional masculinity and explored the concept of youth in relation to fashion. The contrast of design between conservative attire and informal accessories provided an updated twist to the collection.
