LFW SS16: Judy Wu

In London at Judy Wu’s sophomore catwalk outing it just got better for the young yet increasingly promising designer. Christening her SS16 collection #FeminineStrengthJudyWu, and even appliquéing this onto one typically Judy-esque deconstructed slip dress, exceptional in its solitude, Wu has successfully mastered the concept of adding a notable thematic thread to an range of garments.

Polishing up her finish considerably, Wu presented her unique interpretation of femininity, smartly balancing strength and a hint of sensuality by way of slinky folds of materials that held the body like a glove. In a wise move, Wu also decided not to deviate from her favoured colour palette of vaguely tropical mints, coral tones, warm metallic and finally black, to separate them all. A whole host of new prints really gave new life to her latest collection as well, with Wu going through a slight cosmic thing and observing the organic wonders of outer space for some subtle out of this world motifs.

Wu’s vastly improved lexicon was evident and it showed, with her understanding of dressing the female form first-hand, and suitably delicate artistic gestures, making many more spectators take serious note. No doubt this is yet another collection that will assure Wu’s place on the industry map and also cement further appearances on the LFW runway.
