LFW SS16: Pringle of Scotland


Pringle of Scotland ticked all of the boxes at their SS16 show held at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel this season. Generally sticking to their heritage honed formula the brand injected just a touch of trendy caprice into their latest collection, however decided to journey on an ethereal holiday to Scotland.

Knitwear innovation was, of course, the order of the day and Massimo Nicosia introduced ribbons, tapes, leather strings and cording. Despite all of these embellishments, this was a collection that emphasised ease and summertime and a seasonal sense of imperfection that came from hand-made pieces primed for the lighter skied months, with some floral motifs even being used to soften the grid structures.

Some faint intarsia, pointelle with statement eyelets and other loose slips of slinky finely woven and crocheted fabrics made for some attractive never-before-seen moves at the knitwear house, but ultimately the puritanical mood rendered this collection as lax as ever. But for Pringle, lax luxury is always the way forward.
