LFW AW16: Fyodor Golan

After last year’s partnership with Transformers, for AW16 Fyodor Golan collaborated with Coca-Cola and created a selection of pieces based on the motif of the brand’s vintage pin up advertising, logo and its bottles, bringing to mind Andy Warhol’s pop art take on the theme.

As per usual, the colour palette was bold – all the shades of neon, perfect for a rave as models also sported greasy hair and smudged eyeliner look, electric blue, purple, a mix of red, white and black, along with the occasional metallic. Abstract patterns, double-layered dresses with holes, pieces with colourfully framed hoops and scallop detailing, worn with neon fish net tights and metallic oxfords, were inspired by Alexander Liberman’s paintings.

Voluminous frills were everywhere – on dresses, leather skirts with the iconic renaissance painting The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli printed on them, as well as jeans paired with frilled single-sleeved cropped tops that were only one of the examples of an asymmetric silhouette carried throughout the collection.

The collection was also about textures – lush velvet and distorted denim filled with tiny holes being the most notable ones. A bleached pair of jeans with pearl inserts was beautiful. Heavily embellished, and generally heavy-weighted, ripped denim jacket, with sleeves almost falling off the model, and jeans were also stand out pieces.
