UNIQLO, the Japanese global apparel retailer, has announced their collaboration with JW Anderson is coming back for spring. Following the success of their partnership last year this reunion is highly anticipated. Irish designer JW Anderson has again taken inspiration from traditional British heritage and his years spent growing up on the British Isles and in particular the 1950s heydays of Brighton on the south coast.
Anderson explains, “I was looking for this idea of British summer… Something which is very lightweight, very airy, with a lot of linen and cotton, that has a 1950s sub-cultural movement”. The collection exudes seaside spirit as well as forward-thinking design. Wardrobe basics are made in UNIQLO’s technical fabrics, such as wrinkle-proof parkas consequently bringing the celebration of a popular summer tradition into modern times.

Although a ruffle or two and the JW Anderson emblem remains prominent, last season’s knits and duffle coats have been replaced with on-trend bucket hats, stripy tees, anchor imagery, and seagull totes. The collection epitomises the British seaside.
Describing his debut collaboration with UNIQLO, Anderson adds, “Big gestures are easy to do, it’s the smaller ones that are harder – I know that from doing shows. What I want at the moment is a dose of reality.” And the SS18 collection has done just that, bringing back style from 60 odd years ago whilst embodying modern simplicity, quality and longevity, the SS18 UNIQLO and JW Anderson line will prove forever stylish. With over 30 items in men’s and women’s and unisex styles, this collection is sure to sell out so mark April 19th in your calendars and make room in your wardrobes.
