Acqua di Parma creates Colonia Vaniglia exclusively for Harrods

ITALIAN fragrance house Acqua di Parma adds sweet Madagascan vanilla to its citrus signature in its latest scent Colonia Vaniglia, created exclusively for Harrods. The scent, an Eau de Cologne Concentrée, places at its heart the finest variety of vanilla from Madagascar, specially selected by perfumer François Demachy.

Colonia Vaniglia

Also known as Spice Island, Madagascar is responsible for most of the world’s vanilla production. The process is complex and lengthy, requiring a lot of time and effort. Growers not only wait a long time to delicately hand-pollinate vanilla flowers that only last for a day, but one kilo of vanilla pods requires at least 600 pollinated flowers. As a result, Madagascan vanilla is singular with its intense fragrance and unique flavour – making it highly sought after.

Colonia Vaniglia opens with refreshing bergamot, mandarin and neroli – fresh citruses that evoke Italy and that characterise all Acqua di Parma fragrances. Sensual sambac jasmine and creamy vanilla follow, inspired by the magnificent sunsets and warm waters of Madagascar. Warm and delicate, cedarwood and musk act as base notes, grounding the fragrance. Colonia Vaniglia is, in its entirety, an olfactory palette that is rich, exciting and very reminiscent of Madagascar and its landscapes.
