IN commemoration of the hallmark event, the Swiss Haute Horlogerie has unveiled its latest research breakthrough with a new addition to a pre-existing line of iconic watch design, one which combines immense accuracy and style, epitomising the careful attention to detail synonymous with the heritage brand.
At the centre of the latest addition to the Royal Oak family is the Calibre 2968, an ultra-thin self-winding flying tourbillon movement. The innovation, which took no less than five years to create faced immense difficulties when materialising the final product.
The design had to be rethought time and time again before the technology, previously reserved for 41mm watches, could be inserted into a new, 39mm Jumbo without altering its sleek design. With its release, the product has made history as the first Jumbo watch to be fitted with a self-winding flying tourbillon.

The new design venture is set to be complemented with an additional product this September. A secondary 37mm version for smaller wrists will finalise the semi-centennial collection, enriched with a dial of a different hue to the original watch.
