Baume & Mercier enriches Clifton Collection with COSC Certified Watches

FOUNDED in 1830 by brothers Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume, Baume & Mercier – or Frères Baume – as it was then called, is one of the oldest Swiss watchmaking houses. It all began in Les Bois, a village in the Swiss Jura, where the brothers opened a comptoir horloger (a watch dealership).

The Baume brothers’ business soon proved to be a success, and remaining true to their motto, “accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality”, they managed to establish themselves as esteemed watchmakers. Over time, Baume & Mercier has evolved into an internationally-acclaimed brand, creating exceptional timepieces that feature the latest innovations – all while paying homage to its long legacy.

For Baume & Mercier, it’s all about providing clients with sophisticated watches that are both aesthetically sublime and technologically advanced. And so, the brand has recently enriched its refined Clifton collection with outstanding performance and chronometric accuracy.

Two established models of the Clifton Baumatic, the 10505 and 10519, meet the very exacting standards of the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), recognisable with an anthracite central focal point, which symbolises COSC certification.

Together with the 10518 model, they house the Baumatic BM13 calibre, which stands out with its high-quality mechanics. Now with enhanced accuracy and precision, the Clifton Baumatic models perfectly fuse understated elegance and technical reliability.

The Clifton Baumatic editions, which are now COSC certified, provide chronometric accuracy with only a variation of -4 to +6 seconds per day, compared to the variation of 20-30 seconds usually required for other watches. Together with another Clifton model, the timepieces house the mechanical self-winding movement, Baumatic BM13 calibre, offering innovative features that are adapted to contemporary needs.

In addition to the power reserve of 120 hours (5 days), the timepieces are also equipped with anti-magnetism, which can resist the magnetic fields encountered in daily life. Excelling in quality, reliability and performance, the Baumatic timepieces are the essential companions for aesthetes with assertive tastes in perpetual pursuit of performance and innovation.

In addition to being reliable, the new editions of these timepieces epitomise the modern urban-chic aesthetic. A crisp white dial features polished time markers and rhodium-plated hands, in addition to the iconic date aperture.

The watch itself is mounted on either a metal bracelet, a red-brown alligator strap or a black alligator strap, all of which complement the dial perfectly. The steel case is finished with a transparent sapphire case back, through which the COSC automatic movement can be observed.

If you’re looking for a refined, self-winding timepiece, the enhanced Clifton Baumatic is the watch for you.
