This month, Harrods marks the opening of the Blancpain boutique, the watch brand’s first franchise boutique in the luxe department store, with a captivating exhibition, which offers visitors the opportunity to experience the world of Blancpain.
Since 1735 and the first workshop in Villeret, Switzerland, Blancpain has been making mechanical watches which take the watchmaker’s art to places it has never been before. Conquering new horizons and simultaneously staying true to the production of “grande complication” wristwatches, the exhibition will include the Blancpain’s latest icons. Among them, the Villeret 8 Days with its pure lines and the Grand Feu enamel dial where the numerals are painting in enamel with a traditional, like the rest of the Villeret collection, styling; the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscape Flyback chronograph, offers a diver’s watch in a size suited for daily wear; also the Ultra-Slim for women, with a white ostrich-skin strap, mother-of-pearl dial and diamond bezel.
New to the Harrod’s Fine Watch Room will be also the highly anticipated Portofino Midsize collection to embrace exclusive pieces such as the Automatic Moonphase collection in steel or red gold set in white diamond bezel. The Moonphase display, a reference to the legendary original Portofino of 1984, is presented in several imaginative settings: sometimes classic, with a backdrop of clouds, sometimes hovering in space in a star-studded night sky, reflecting classic elegance and simplicity.
Once again, Harrods provides its visitors with the elegant aesthetics and the technical accomplishments of timeless watch jewels by pioneering watchmakers.
