Bulgari announce Mary Katrantzou as Head of Leather Goods and Accessories

USHERING in a new chapter for Bulgari’s design department, Mary Katrantzou has just been announced as the house’s first-ever creative director of leather goods and accessories.

Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2008, Katrantzou has become an affluent name within the industry. Recognised across the globe for her unparalleled colour sensibility, incredible craftsmanship and innovative design approach, Mary’s work has been displayed in leading institutions – including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Victoria and Albert Museum and many more.

Now, the creative director will helm her eponymous brand alongside her new role at Bulgari.

“Mary’s arrival as Leather Goods and Accessories creative director makes us very proud. Mary shares with Bulgari not only the Greek origins, but above all the search for excellence in the choice of materials, the way in which they are transformed with a particular emphasis on craftsmanship and a passionate love for colours. We are certain that what we are starting with this visionary designer is a path full of successes,” says Jean-Christophe Babin, Bulgari’s CEO.

Katrantzou first collaborated with the brand in 2019 as part of her spring-summer 2020 couture show at the 500BC Temple of Poseidon for the Elpida charity. Later, in 2021, the two joined forces again with Katrantzou joining the ‘Serpenti through the eyes of’ series. Now, continuing with their impressive partnership, it’s evident that Katrantzou is the perfect designer for the inaugural position.

The debut collection by Mary Katrantzou as creative director of Bulgari leather goods and accessories will be available in Bulgari boutiques globally in August 2024.
