SPRING is upon us and the sun is shining down on Bicester Village, and it’s a glorious day to visit the Elton John pop-up store which has just opened to coincide with the final dates of his historic “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour.
A member of The Bicester Collection, it is one of 11 shopping experiences located close to some of the world’s most celebrated cities, each offering remarkable value to the discerning shopper. Bicester Village is adjacent to the ever-green Oxfordshire countryside, and just a 45-minute train ride away from Central London. Upon our arrival, the Apartment team (the private guest house in the Village) reserve a parking space for us and assist with charging our car, while we’re greeted with a cup of tea and homemade biscuits.

Walking into the pop-up store is like walking through Elton’s life, with iconic memorabilia on display and a new range of bold yet wearable sunglasses designed by Elton himself which mimic some of the glasses that he’s worn and performed in over the years. Each pair celebrates inner confidence, self-belief and authenticity and as the man himself says, “Self-expression is at the core of everything I do. I learned long ago that my style is what gives me confidence, and I just don’t feel myself without my glasses.”

Each purchase sees 10% of the proceeds going to the Elton John AIDS Foundation adding a heartwarming touch to the shopping experience.
After marvelling in our favourite stores; Acne, Maje, Dior, Prada and Gucci to name a few, we sit down to enjoy an alfresco lunch at Cecconi’s accompanied by perfectly cooked sea bass and a polenta lamb dish. All washed down with a glass of bubbles and a side of melt-in-the-mouth cheesy gnocchi – the perfect end to the most wonderful day.
