Fashion sparkles at Miu Miu screening

Miu Miu’s party and screening of Spark and Light,  the latest short film in the label’s Women’s Tales series, at the Diamond Horseshoe was the highlight of this year’s New York Fashion Week.

The film, directed by So Yong Kim, is about a young woman grappling with her mother’s sudden illness. Set against the Icelandic landscape, Spark and Light is an evocative film about family and memory. The cast, of course, wore Miu Miu’s S/S14 collection.

So Yong Kim, a Korean American filmmaker, received the Special Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival for her first film, In Between Days. She has made two more feature-length films since then: Treeless Children (2008) and For Ellen (2012), the latter starring Paul Dano who was also at the party.

Riley Keough, star of Spark and Light and Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, attended the screening with So Yong Kim. It seemed that the entire fashion elite was at the Diamond Horseshoe, like a party scene from The Great Gatsby or Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grande Bellezza. Fashionistas fawned over Suzy Menkes. Anna Dello Russo and Giovanna Battaglia wore matching Prada dresses and posed for photographers on a plush banquette.
