Glass enjoys an elevated stay at Treehouse London

ADDRESSES don’t get much more attractive than that of Treehouse London – the first UK launch by ritzy US brand 1 Hotels – which opened in late 2019. Just seconds from Oxford Circus and with the myriad shops, theatres and restaurants of Soho, Marylebone and Fitzrovia on the doorstep, it’s tailor-made for a whirlwind weekend in the capital.

Its central London location and lofty height also means the views are spectacular. Set across 16 floors, Treehouse London’s 95 rooms and suites are amply comfortable and playfully decorated with kitsch decor – think record players, Magic 8 balls and oversized globes – and each provide an elevated vantage point, with many of London’s most iconic buildings within sight.

The best views are found from The Nest, a roof- top bar with 360-degree vistas that have made it a sought-after destination for locals and tourists alike. Time your visit for sunset and pick from an imaginative cocktail menu that includes the exquisite Alma del Sol, which pairs Avión Reposado tequila with chile de arbol and elderflower.

One floor down is Madera, a stylish Mexican restaurant given character with a verdant forest of greenery, reclaimed wood and bamboo furniture.

It’s a vibey spot with smiling, friendly staff and a lively soundtrack supplied by visiting DJs. Using seasonal ingredients and authentic recipes, Madera’s chefs put a satisfying spin on traditional Mexican dishes, with stand-out tacos and tostadas sitting alongside ceviche and carne asada, which is served sizzling over hot lava stones.

While traditional inhouse facilities are slim, the Treehouse London app provides a gateway to a host of available activities on offer to guests, including yoga classes and gym sessions at the nearby Frame studio.

Satisfyingly, it’s also possible to book a retro-themed midnight feast, complete with popcorn, finger sandwiches and brownies, to leave you refuelled and ready for the following day.
